2021 • Dance performance | A 25th-anniversary work focusing on transition, past, and future.
Iniciação is a dance performance by Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte that marks the company's 25th anniversary. The title of the work ("initiation") directs the viewer to look at the choreography as a ceremonial rite of passage, which evokes thoughts about the passage of time, nostalgia, passing knowledge and skill forward, looking back and forward at the same time.
Dancer and choreographer Elisa Worm, 82, who founded the dance company in 1995, plays the lead role in the performance.
Iniciação premiered on October 2, 2021 at Cineteatro António Lamoso.
